Ines Lescudier posted the second-lowest round of the day in Monday's (April 12) second round to lead the Kennesaw State women's golf team as the Owls own a 22-stroke lead heading into the final day at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, held at the par-72, 6,146-yard Reunion Resort Watson Course.
KSU, who owns three of the top-four individual spots on the leaderboard, registered a four-over par 292 in its second round and have a three-over par total of 579 through two rounds.
"We are happy we stretched our lead out," said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "It was an up and down day. We got off to a really phenomenal start. I think we were five-under through three, gave some back and made some really odd mistakes out there that cost us. I think we counted five or six doubles and even coming back on eighteen just now we made a couple, but overall you cannot help be happy with that they played with really good tenacity today and I am happy."
Lescudier turned in a one-under par 71 to pace the Owls in their second round and moved into second place with an even par total of 144. Lescuder, who opened her round with back-to-back birdies and finished with a birdie and eight pars on the back nine, is two strokes off the pace of sophomore
Dulcie Sverdloff, who leads all individuals with a two-under par score of 142 after carding an even-par 72 on Monday. Sverdloff carded five birdies on the day, including finishing with back-to-back birdies on her final two holes.
Senior
Kaew Preamchuen is right behind the duo in third place with a two-over par score of 146 after turning in a two-over par 74 in her second round.
Sophomore
Laura Estefenn is tied for sixth with a four-over par two-round total of 148 and posted a four-over par 76 on the day, while freshman
Henriette Nielsen registered a three-over par 75 in her second round and is tied for ninth with a six-over par total of 150.
Florida Gulf Coast continues to sit in second place with a 25-over par total of 601 following a 10-over par 298 in its second round, while North Florida is third with a 34-over par score of 610 after a 10-over par 298 on Monday.
