MNT: The Owls Hit the Road to Take on North Florida and Georgia Tech

KSU Will Compete Against Two Top Ranked Opponents This Week

KENNESAW, Ga. – After a tough week of home matches to open up Atlantic Sun play, the Kennesaw State men's tennis team (5-8) travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on North Florida and comes back to Georgia to face Georgia Tech. The match against North Florida is scheduled for Thursday (Mar. 26) at 12 p.m. ET while the match against Georgia Tech will take place on Sunday (Mar. 29) at 12 p.m. ET.
 
 
Dominating Doubles
KSU has been outstanding in doubles play throughout season. With an overall doubles record of 10-3, the Owls have won the last seven in a row; even clinching the doubles point against the No. 58 ranked Troy Trojans.
 

Latest Action
KSU opened up its Atlantic Sun schedule against FGCU and Stetson last week. On Wednesday the Owls came up short in a 5-2 loss to the Eagles. The doubles point was clinched by the Black and Gold at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions respectively, however, it was not enough to seal the match. The lone singles point was recorded at the No. 2 position, but the Eagles took home the victory.
 
On Saturday, KSU faced a tough Stetson team at Fair Oaks Park. The Owls remained successful in doubles play, clinching the point at No. 1 and No. 3. The Hatters, however, came out strong during singles action. The Owls' only singles point was collected at the No. 1 position and the match went in Stetson's favor.
 

Simon Pritchard
Sophomore Simon Pritchard (Newport, Wales / Millfield School) is off to a great start this season. Leading the Owls with an overall record of 18-7, the Wales native is 8-4 in singles play and 10-3 in doubles action. While playing at the No. 3 position in doubles, he and teammate Jorge Wilton have put together a perfect record of 7-0 on the season.
 

North Florida
 
North Florida, led by head coach Mark Finnegan, holds a current record of 13-4 on the dual-match season. The No. 69 ranked Ospreys have posted some impressive wins this season over opponents like: No. 71 St. Johns, No. 67 ETSU, No. 73 College of Charleston, No. 67 UCF, and No. 57 South Alabama.
 
UNF has a couple of players ranked amongst the top athletes on the ITA rankings list. Sophomore Jack Findel-Hawkins is ranked No. 93 in singles play while the doubles team consisting of Norbert Nemcsek and Jack Findel-Hawkins is ranked No. 52 on the list.
 
The Ospreys come into this week after opening up their A-Sun schedule with Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky last week. UNF posted a 4-1 win over Lipscomb on Thursday (Mar. 19) before taking care of Northern Kentucky in a 7-0 victory on Friday (Mar. 20).
 
 
Georgia Tech
 
The No. 73 ranked Yellow Jackets, led by head coach Kenny Thorne, are currently 10-5 on the season and 3-2 in ACC play after topping conference foes Clemson, Miami and Boston College.
 
Georgia Tech has two singles players ranked amongst the top 125 athletes on the ITA rankings list and a doubles team ranked on the top 80 list. Freshman Christopher Eubanks is ranked No. 73 while junior Nathan Rakitt holds a current rank of No. 107. The doubles team of Carlos Benito/Eduardo Segura is ranked No. 58.
 
The Jackets dropped their last match 6-1 against No. 37 Notre Dame on Sunday (Mar. 22) and will come into Sunday's match after taking on Louisville on Friday (Mar. 27).
