AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior Ines Lescudier paced the Kennesaw State women's golf team to a two-shot lead following a cold and rainy opening round of the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate, hosted by GRU Augusta at the par-71, 6,085-yard Forest Hills Golf Club after the Owls posted a 12-over par 296 in the 13-team tournament on Friday (March 13).

Lescudier carded an opening round one-under par 70 to sit in a tie for first place after draining three birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies to end her round.

"Today was an adventure," said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "With three players through the first three holes we were 10-over. I am very proud of the way the team faced adverse conditions and a poor start. It rained all day and did not get above 50 degrees but they did not use that as an excuse. Ines was clutch for us today and her birdie-birdie finish was awesome. Our best golf is still to come and I am relieved we have positioned ourselves well and were able to keep our composure and play some smart golf. We had fun out there today and I am excited for tomorrow's round."

Joining Lescudier in the top 10 was classmate Kaew Preamchuen, who posted a three-over par 74 in her first round and connected on three birdies in her opening nine holes.

Rounding out the Owls were sophomores Dulcie Sverdloff and Laura Estefenn and freshman Henriette Nielsen, who each turned in a five-over par 76 and are in a tie for 16th after 18 holes.

The host and 35th-ranked Jaguars, along with No. 20 Furman and No. 45 Coastal Carolina, sit two-strokes behind the Owls after registering a 14-over par total of 298 in the first round, while Columbia's Nancy Xu is tied with Lescudier with the first round lead after firing a one-over par 70 on the day.

Second round action at the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate continues tomorrow, Saturday, March 14 with KSU's tee times beginning at 10:40 a.m. ET off of the No. 1 tee. Live scoring for the second round will be available HERE.
