Atlanta, Ga. –  The Kennesaw State baseball team lost to Georgia State University on Tuesday (March 10) evening, 13-3, at the GSU Baseball Complex. Playing in their second midweek game of the season, the Owls (8-6) got strong performances by preseason All-American Alex Liquori and freshman Grant Williams in the losing effort.

The Owls fought hard with the Panthers early on, as the two teams accounted for two lead changes and three ties over the first five innings. Kennesaw State plated the game's first two runs in the top half of the second inning. Williams –who went 3-for-10 (.300) with two RBI last weekend against UAB—drove home Liquori and Jeremy Howell to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead.

The Panthers, however, answered with three runs over the next two innings to take their first lead of the game at 3-2. Georgia State plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the second before taking its first lead in the following frame with a sacrifice fly ball, grabbing a 3-2 lead.

Trailing by a run, Kennesaw State answered once more in the top half of the fourth. Liquori started the inning with a leadoff double to deep right field. The Brooks, Georgia native eventually crossed home plate when Howell singled up the middle, tying the game at 3-3.

The RBI single gave the sophomore from Dallas, Georgia his ninth RBI of the season, and 14th hit of the season. Liquori, meanwhile, scored his 11th run of the season for the Owls –which is second-most for Kennesaw State.

On the day, Liquori went 3-for-4 (.750) at the plate, compiling two singles and a double with two runs scored. Williams, an Atlanta, Georgia native, finished the game 1-for-4 with two RBI playing in his hometown.

The Owls sent five different pitchers to the mound on the day. Freshman AJ Moore made his second start of the season –both midweek starts—, striking out five Panthers in 4.0 innings of work. Kendall Hawkins, Tony Dibrell, Brock Turner and Mason Ward all made appearances for Kennesaw State.

KSU will be back in action this weekend (March 13-15), traveling to Rock Hill, South Carolina for a three-game set against Winthrop. For the Owls, it will mark the second road weekend series of the 2015 season. KSU took 2-of-3 from Jacksonville State on Feb. 20-21.
