Kiawah Island, SC. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team continued their strong play as they returned to action at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Sunday (Oct. 25). The team sits in second place after the first round at the par-72, 5,972-yard Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, SC.
 
The Owls registered an opening round 1-under par 287, which tied for their season best round, to put them in second place. Campbell shot a 2-under par 286 to grab the team lead after round one.

Dulcie Sverdloff and MedyThavong fired opening rounds of two-under par 70 to lead the Owls and are currently tied for third. Nadine White, of Campbell, shot a 5-under par 67 to take the individual lead after round one.

Freshman Charlotte Charrayre opened with a one-over par 73 and is tied for 23^rd. Clara Aveling shot a two-over par 74 and is tied for 32^nd.  Reining A-Sun Golfer of the Week, Laura Estefenn posted an opening round seven-over par 79 and is tied for tied for 76^th.
 
Kennesaw State will tee off in the second round  beginning at 10:36 a.m. Monday (Oct.26).  Live scoring for the second round is available HERE.

"I am very pleased with our team's play today. We were six-over par through the first three holes, but never gave up and once the birdies started dropping we kept attacking. Medy and Dulcie were clutch for us today. We needed to capitalize on the conditions today, so I'm very proud of the team. We will look forward to following up today's round with another solid day tomorrow. We will be focusing again tomorrow on course management and making putts."
