Spartanburg, SC. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team returned to action at the Terrier Intercollegiate on Monday (Oct. 19) and is in first after the first round at the par-72, 6,012-yard Country Club of Spartanburg  in Spartanburg, SC.
 
The Owls registered an opening round 10-over 298 to give them a four shot lead of second place Gardner-Webb headed in to tomorrow's final round.

Charlotte Charrayre, Laura Estefenn, and Dulcie Sverdoff all carded opening round 74s (+2) and find themselves tied for third and  just two shots behind Julia Henderson of Gardner-Webb who shot even-par 72 to grab the individual lead after day one.

Freshman Clara Aveling is tied for eighth after an opening round 76 (+4), while fellow Freshman Medy Thavong finished with an opening round 77 and is tied for 11^th.

  Kennesaw State will wrap up the  tournament with the second and final round on Tuesday (Oct.20) with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET. Live scoring for the final round is available HERE.

"We were very solid today throughout the entire line up. The greens here are very difficult and I'm pleased with the patience the team showed throughout the day. We capitalized on the par 5's and made some great lag 2 putts for par. This group of players is very talented and it's fun to watch them play to their ability.
