KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to Chattanooga during its season opener Saturday.
Â
The Owls (0-1) were swept in doubles action and their struggles continued through singles play, losing all 6 matches.
Â
Virginie Stein put up a great effort at No. 1 in singles. Stein opened the first set with a 6-1 loss to Kayla Jones but quickly combated that effort in the second set with a 6-4 victory, before taking a 10-7 loss in the tiebreaker set.
Â
"As a team we competed well and the energy was great," said head coach
Jeff Kutac. "The score of the match does not represent the level of competitiveness and fight this group has."
Â
The Owls will return to action Saturday Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. ET at the Samford Tennis Complex in Birmingham, Ala.
