ROUND ONE & TWO RESULTS ( PDF) | ROUND THREE LIVE SCORING | ROUND THREE PAIRINGS (PDF) FORT COLLINS, COLO. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team began its 2014-15 season on Monday (Sept. 8) at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic and sit in eighth place after two rounds of play at the par-72, 6,230-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.
The Owls opened the tournament with rounds of 298-299 for a team total of 597 (+21) and was paced by senior
Kaew Preamchuen, who fired rounds of 73-75 for a 148 total and is in tie for 20th place at four-over par.
"Today's rounds were full of momentum shifts, which made it difficult to get a feel for how we really played," said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "The first 18 holes Dulcie and Ines struggled with the greens, but Kaew and Laura played very solid and salvaged our round. The afternoon round has left us very frustrated as we were 1-over as a team with four holes to play and did not finish well. But considering the errors we made, to put together rounds of 298-299 shows just how good this team is. We are refocused on tomorrow and finishing with a great round."
"I played pretty well in both rounds today," said Preamchuen. "I was happy to get back out there with my teammates, especially this being my final year in collegiate golf. I just have to focus on making some putts tomorrow and I am confident the team will rebound and do well tomorrow and have some fun."
Following closely being Preamchuen was the trio of senior
Ines Lescudier and sophomores
Dulcie Sverdloff and
Laura Estefenn as Lescudier opened with rounds of 76-73 for a five-over total of 149 and is in a tie for 24th, while the two sophomores sit in a tie for 30th with a 36-hole total of 150. After an opening 77, Sverdloff rebounded with a one-over par 73, while Estefenn came out strong with an even-par 72, but finished the day with a six-over par 78.
Senior
Mette Kryger Pedersen rounded out the Owls with rounds of 81-81 for an 18-over par total of 162.
San Diego State leads the 17-team event after firing rounds of 289-288 and is one-over par with a nine-stroke lead over second-place teams Illinois (+10) and Colorado (+10).
The Aztecs' Emma Henrikson (72-67) and Sirene Blair (70-69) hold the individual lead at five-under par with a 139 total through 36 holes.
The Owls will look to make a move up the scoreboard on Tuesday (Sept. 9) as final-round action begins at 10:30 a.m. ET. Live scoring for the third and final round will be available
