A-SUN RELEASE KENNESAW, Ga. – Following in the footsteps of teammate
Kaew Preamchuen, senior
Ines Lescudier earned the Kennesaw State women's golf team its second-consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honor, the conference announced on Wednesday (Sept. 24).
It was the fifth career Golfer of the Week accolade for the senior and the second of the season for the Owls in 2014-15.
"I am very proud of the team and the individual performances the past three weeks," said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "We have now earned back-to-back Players of the Week honors and this is a great achievement for Ines. She has played some very solid golf this month and continues to push herself to get better each week."
Lescudier registered her second-straight top-10 finish to lead KSU to a tie for seventh place in a loaded 18-team field at the Lady Paladin Invitational on Tuesday as the Owls recorded its low 54-hole total of the season with a 893 total at the par-72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course.
"I am very happy to be named Women's Golfer of the week," said Lescudier. "It is always nice to receive awards. Last year I did not achieve my goals besides winning the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, so I have been working hard on my game over the summer and I am happy it is paying off. It is my last year and I want to do my best for the team and for my future."
The senior paced the team throughout the entire tournament, opening the event with four birdies en route to a one-over par 73 in Sunday's first round. She continued her strong play with a two-under par 70 in her second round, equaling the second-lowest individual round by an Owl this season after again sinking four birdies, including three-straight on the fifth, sixth and seventh holes. Lescudier finished the tournament with a three-over par total in her final round to tie for 10th with a two-over par total of 218, the lowest tournament score for an Owl this season.
The Marseille, France native leads the Owls with a 73.56 stroke average through three tournaments this fall.
Lescudier and the Owls next break for three weeks before wrapping the fall slate at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina at the Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C., on Oct. 13-14.
