DAUFUESKIE ISLAND, S.C. – Behind under-par rounds from senior
Austin Vick and sophomore
Teremoana Beaucousin, the Kennesaw State men's golf team successfully defended its 2013 Rees Jones Invitational title.

Vick carded a 2-under par 70 and Beaucousin posted a 1-under par 71 to lead the Owls to a final-round 5-over par 293 on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole event at 7-over par 871 and record a three-shot victory over second-place East Carolina (874).

The win marked Kennesaw State's fourth in the last five years at the par-72, 7,380-yard Haig Point Golf Club in Daufuskie, Island, S.C.

Vick and Beaucousin were among a group of six Owls who placed in the top nine of the 11-team tournament. Beaucousin led the Owls, finishing third with a 1-under par total of 215, seven shots behind Winthrop's Zach Seabolt who claimed individual medalist honors with an 8-under total of 208.

Vick (216) finished fourth, while sophomore
Chris Guglielmo, who was playing as an individual, turned in a career-best finish, tying for fifth with a 1-over par 217. Senior
Jimmy Beck (218) placed seventh, freshman
Fredrik Nilehn (221) finished eighth and junior
Carlos Segura Oliva (222) tied for ninth. Nilehn, who recorded a career-best finish, competed as an individual.

Kelby Burton (230), who played as an individual, tied for 30th, and freshman
Wyatt Larkin (241) tied for 52nd.

Kennesaw State will have a two-week break before traveling to New Haven, Conn. to compete in the MacDonald Cup hosted by Yale beginning Oct. 4.
