Ines Lescudier fired a two-under par 70 in her second round to lead the Kennesaw State women's golf at the Lady Paladin Invitational as the Owls posted its low round of the season with a sixth-over par 294 total in the 18-team event, held at the par-72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
The Owls sit in seventh place with a 15-over par total of 591 through two rounds of the Lady Paladin Invitational after opening the tournament with a nine-over par 297 in Sunday's first round.
"I am very pleased with the way the team hung tough today," said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "We persevered and stuck with our game plan and it paid off. The thing I love about this team is the ability of each player to go low. We have again positioned ourselves very well in a deep field. Tomorrow is a big day for us."
Lescudier owns a one-under par total of 143 through 36 holes of action and is in sixth place heading into the final day of the tournament after sinking four birdies, including three straight on the fifth, sixth and seventh holes.
"Today was a great day for me," said the Marseille, France native. "I had a good start with four pars, but making the three-straight birdies helped me a lot today. This course can be tricky, so when I have a birdie opportunity I have to take advantage of it. The ninth and 10th holes were tough, but I saved my bogey on the 10th. The rest of the round was great, even though I did not make any putts for birdies outside the 12th hole. As a team we had a better round today and I am confident tomorrow will be even better. I am looking forward to getting back on the course for tomorrow's final round."
Sophomore
Laura Estefenn carded a two-over par 74 in her second round and is tied for 20
th with a four-over par total of 148, while sophomore
Dulcie Sverdloff and senior
Kaew Preamchuen are among a group of nine players tied for 33rd at six-over par after rounds of 73 and 77, respectively.
Freshman
Henriette Nielsen shot a nine-over par 81 and is tied for 77th with a 15-over par total of 159.
Host Furman continues to lead and is two-under par with a 36-hole total of 591 after posting an even-par round of 288 in its second round. The Paladins, who is the only team under par in the event, hold a nine-stroke advantage over second-place teams Texas Tech and Wake Forest, who each own a seven-over par total of 583. Furman's Taylor Totland leads all individuals with a six-under par total of 138 after a four-under par score of 68 in the second round.
