SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore
Dulcie Sverdloff highlighted the Kennesaw State women's golf team's play during the final round of the Cardinal Cup as the Owls finished third after firing a season-best team round of 297 (+9) on Tuesday (Sept. 16) at the par-72, 6,223-yard University of Louisville Golf Course.
Â
The Owls finished the tournament at 33-over par with a 54-hole total of 897, just three strokes off of second-place Memphis at 30-over par and nine strokes off host Louisville, who captured the 17-team event with a 24-over par total of 888.
Â
"We persevered today after difficult starting holes," said head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead. "I am proud of the focus on executing shots and capitalizing on opportunities. Dulcie's round was fantastic after a frustrating 36 yesterday. I am pleased to move up to third and know we are yet to play our best golf."
Â
Sverdloff drained five birdies en route to a three-under par final round score of 69, which equals her best collegiate round, and finished the tournament with a 12-over par total of 228 to tie for 22nd. Â Â
Â
"I am extremely pleased after such a disappointing day yesterday to bounce back with a round in the 60S," said Sverdloff. "I hit the ball well today, holed more putts and played the tough holes very well. It is a good boost for the rest of the season."
Â
