CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team shot a final-round 6-over par 294 to finish tied for fourth at the 54-hole Tar Heel Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at the par-72, 7,242-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Owls recorded rounds of 288-282-294 for a three-round total of even-par 864 to tie GRU Augusta and Elon. Host North Carolina captured the 18-team event with a 26-under par total of 838 to finish 23 shots ahead of UNC Greensboro and East Carolina who tied for second at 3-under par 861.

"This week we struggled from top to bottom," head coach
Jay Moseley said. "It was pretty disappointing but I know we will learn from it and get better. We will build off the positives and use this experience to help us improve."

Senior
Jimmy Beck led Kennesaw State, shooting a third-round 2-under par 70 on Sunday, concluding the tournament with a 6-under par score of 210 to tie for fourth place, four shots behind North Carolina's Ben Griffin who claimed individual medalist honors with a 10-under 206 total. Furman's Bryce Howell and Maverick Antcliff of GRU Augusta tied for second with 8-under scores of 208.

Sophomore
Teremoana Beaucousin shot a third-round even-par 72 and tied for sixth at 5-under 211. Freshman
Fredrik Nilehn, who was playing as an individual, turned in a career-low round of 2-under par 70 to tie for 19th at 1-under 215.

Kelby Burton (222) tied for 52nd, while freshman
Wyatt Larkin (225) tied for 63rd and senior
Austin Vick (227) tied for 73rd. Â Â

Kennesaw State continues a busy month of September when it travels to Dafuskie Island, S.C. to compete in the Rees Jones Invitational that opens Sunday (Sept. 21) at Haig Point Golf Club. The Owls will enter the tournament as the defending champions after claiming victory in 2013.
