A-SUN RELEASE
 
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference is once again holding its annual mascot contest with this year's challenge following the theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 2014 Atlantic Sun Mascot Cup will run from July 17-31, with the champion determined by fan votes across the A-Sun Social Media Platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
 
The format of the contest will play out similar to the recently finished World Cup with the league's mascots divided into two groups of four for the "Group Stage." Following three round-robin matches, the top two mascots from each group will advance to the knockout round.
 
In the knockout round two semifinal matches will determine who advances to the Mascot Cup Final, where the 2014 Atlantic Sun Mascot Champion will be crowned.
 
The two previous winners, Florida Gulf Coast's Azul and Northern Kentucky's Victor E. Viking, were placed in separate groups, with a random draw determining the remaining spots in the two groups.
 
Kennesaw State's very own Scrappy was placed in Group A, along with Azul, Lipscomb's Bison and North Florida's Ozzie. Group B consists of Victor, Stetson's John B., USC Upstate's Sparty and Jacksonville's Dunk'n.
 
How to vote
Twitter: The conference will send out two tweets per Mascot for each match at different times of the day. Fans can retweet or favorite that tweet to vote. Owl Nation can also tweet out Scrappy's official hashtag #TeamScrappy to vote for Scrappy as many times as possible.
Facebook: The A-Sun will provide a gallery for each match and fans can like or share to vote.
Instagram: The A-Sun will provide match photos and fans can like to vote.

Group Stage
July 17: Azul vs. Scrappy / LU Bison vs. Ozzie – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
July 18: Victor vs. John B. / Sparty vs. Dunk'n – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
July 21: Azul vs. LU Bison / Scrappy vs. Ozzie – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
July 22: Victor vs. Sparty / John B. vs. Dunk'n – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
July 23: Azul vs. Ozzie / Scrappy vs. LU Bison – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
July 24: Victor vs. Dunk'n / John B. vs. Sparty – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

July 28: Group A Winner vs. Group B Runner-Up

July 30-31: Winner Semi 1 vs. Winner Semi 2
