Austin Vick posted a 1-over par 71 to lead Kennesaw State during the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships that concluded Sunday at the par-70, 6,941-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Â
Vick's effort led the Owls during a 14-over par 294 round and placed Kennesaw State 28th with a 28-over total of 588. The Owls will be grouped with USC and Virginia and will begin their third round at 4:40 p.m. in a shotgun start beginning on holes 3-6.
Â
After playing the first three holes in 3-over par, Vick played his final 15 holes in 2-under and was on pace to finish with an even-par 70 before a bogey on the 18th.
Â
Freshman
Teremoana Beaucousin is tied for 50th at 2-over par 142, while Vick is tied for 99th at 6-over 146. Juniors
Kelby Burton and
Jimmy Beck are tied for 127th at 10-over par 150, and freshman
Chris Guglielmo is tied for 145th at 14-over par 154.
Â
Teams endured a fourth suspension of play during the tournament during the morning that lasted just over an hour.
Â
Sunday's delay followed an 8 hour and 10 minute weather delay that affected play on Friday and resulted in several format changes that NCAA officials announced earlier in the day.
Â
Round 4 of competition (low 40 individuals and ties) has been cancelled and every at effort is going to be made for all 156 players to complete 54 holes.  After completion of Sunday's second round, teams 16-30 and high three individuals on the leaderboard after 36 holes will begin third-round play in a shotgun format approximately 40 minutes after the completion of round two.Â
Â
Teams that are first through 15th on the leaderboard will play their third round on Monday.
