Virginie Stein (Gevelsberg, Germany / Gymnasium Gevelsberg) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday (Apr. 9).
Stein went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles position with wins over Mercer and North Florida. In the match against the Ospreys, Stein topped Simona Weymar 6-3, 6-2, the first loss in conference for Weymar before picking up a straight-set victory over Mercer's Danielle Jones to improve her conference record to 5-1.
Stein also teamed with
Alexandra Apostu to record a pair of wins at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo defeated Mercer, 8-2, and followed that up with an 8-4 win over North Florida's No. 1 doubles pairing. The two now boast a 6-0 doubles record in conference play.
Kennesaw closes out regular-season play this weekend with a pair of road matches. The Owls travel to Johnson City, Tenn., on Friday (Apr. 11) to take on ETSU at 2 p.m. (ET) before visiting USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday (Apr. 12) beginning at 10 a.m. (ET).
