MARIETTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Atlantic Sun Conference and in-state rival Mercer Wednesday at Fair Oaks Park in Marietta.
After winning the doubles point behind victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, Mercer (9-11, 3-2) rallied back to post four singles wins at No. 3 through No. 6 to take the match.
The doubles teams of
Virginie Stein and
Alexandra Apostu and
Tamara Plocher and
Gabriela Bueno recorded 8-2 and 8-6 victories and the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively.
Stein and Apostu also were victories in singles, claiming wins at the top two positions. Stein recorded a 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 1 spot, while Apostu outlasted Lucie Payrat, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 2.
The Owls (5-11, 1-4) will close out their 2014 dual-match home schedule on Friday (Apr. 4) when they host North Florida at Fair Oaks Park in Marietta beginning at 1 p.m. (ET).
