Preamchuen and Estefenn Named A-Sun All-Tournament with Top Four Finishes

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – Top four finishes from junior Kaew Preamchuen and freshman Laura Estefenn led the Kennesaw State women's golf team to its second-consecutive runner-up finish at the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships at the par-72, 6,198-yard Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club on a windy Wednesday afternoon (April 16).
 
The Owls posted a 54-hole total of 903 to end the tournament at 39-over par, seven shots behind champion East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers turned in the low rounds of the day for both the second and third rounds as they put up scores of 299 (+11) and 297 (+9) for a tournament total of 896 (+32). Mercer rounded out the top three with a 905 total to finish two strokes behind KSU at 41-over par.
 
After weather delayed most of the second round to Wednesday morning, the Owls recorded the second-lowest second round score with a 13-over par 301 to take a one-shot lead heading into the final round of play, where KSU carded a 17-over par 305 to conclude the championship.
 
Preamchuen led the Owls with a six-over par 222 total after rounds of three-over par 75 in round two and a four-over par 76 in round three to finish in third place, earning A-Sun All-Tournament honors. The Chachoengsao, Thailand native was just three strokes behind medalist Vivienne Chin of ETSU, who totaled a three-over par 219 to win the tournament.
 
Also earning A-Sun All Tournament accolades was Estefenn, who turned in a seven-over par 223 total with a one-over par 73 in the second round and a four-over par 76 in the third round to place fourth in her first-ever conference tournament.
 
Freshman Dulcie Sverdloff tied for 16th after posting a 14-over par 230 with rounds of 74-79, while junior Ines Lescudier finished in a tie for 18th at 15-over par after rounds of 79-77 for 231 tournament total.
 
Junior Mette Kryger Pedersen carded rounds of 80-76 to wrap up the championship tied for 25th with a 17-over par 233 total.
