BOX SCORE (XML) | BOX SCORE (PDF) | PHOTO GALLERY KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team dropped its three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series finale with Stetson, 11-0, on Sunday afternoon (April 13) at Bailey Park.
The Owls fall to 22-22 on the season and 11-10 in A-Sun play, while the Hatters move to 29-8 and 13-5 in conference action.
Stetson jumped out to an early lead as the Hatters scored four runs in the top of the first inning on a solo home run to left field to lead off the contest, followed by a three-run shot to the same spot.
The Hatters then added a three-run homer in the top of the fourth, before closing out the scoring with four runs in the fifth to take the 11-0 win.
Freshman
Taylor Denton registered the lone Owl hit of the contest with a double to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Junior pitcher
Paige Mathews (4-11) took the loss, giving up four runs on three hits in an inning of work. Senior
Amanda Henderson entered in the second and allowed three runs on three hits in three innings of relief work, while sophomore
Morgan Sikes also saw action, giving up four runs on three hits in an inning of action.
Meredith Owen (17-4) earned the win for the Hatters, while also helping her cause with two home runs and five RBI on the day.
The Owls next head west to Birmingham, Ala., for their second-to-last nonconference opponent as the Owls take on UAB in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 15 starting at 2 p.m. ET.
