JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second consecutive game the Kennesaw State baseball team put up double-digit hits, but it was Jacksonville that came out on top, 10-5, on Saturday night, setting up the Sunday rubber match for the Atlantic Sun Conference series.

The Owls, now 13-17 on the year and 2-6 in the conference, scattered 10 hits including a two-run homer from center fielder Bo Way during the loss to the Dolphins, who move to 7-17 overall and 2-6 in the A-Sun.

The Owls took the first lead of the game in the top of the second with a Matt Bahnick RBI single up the middle that scored Brennan Morgan for the 1-0 KSU advantage. But Jacksonville answered with six runs on five hits in the bottom half, the home team taking its first lead of the series at 6-1.

KSU chipped into the five-run lead with two runs in the fourth with Bahnick earning his second RBI of the night followed by a Cornell Nixon single that scored Morgan to set things at 6-3.

But JU again had an answer, scoring four more in the bottom of the fourth for the 10-3 edge. In the eighth it was Way who came out swinging, sending his first homer of the season deep over the left field wall, scoring Max Pentecost to cut the lead down to 10-5.

The two teams then played scoreless ball through the ninth, ending the game in favor of the Dolphins and splitting the series, 1-1.

Morgan, Pentecost and right fielder Justin Motley each put up two hits during the game, Morgan scoring two runs with Pentecost and Motley each scoring one.

Way and Bahnick each picked up a pair of RBI during the contest as well.

From the mound freshman Gabe Friese had a nice outing, going 5.1 innings in relief allowing just four hits with three strikeouts. Will Lowman came out in the ninth allowing just one hit.

The Owls and the Dolphins will wrap-up the three-game A-Sun series tomorrow, March 30, at 1 p.m. ET in Sessions Stadium.
