TEXAS RELAYS RESULTS |Â SHORTER INVITATIONAL RESULTS
AUSTIN, Texas – A busy weekend has finished up for the Owls as the Texas Relays and Shorter Invitational both finished up on Saturday, March 29.
Â
"We accomplished what we set out for at Texas with the women's 4x100 competing in the final and beating powerhouse programs," Director of Track and Field
Andy Eggerth said. "We also gained several NCAA qualifying marks as well as national exposure."
Martina Cernochova,
Alicia Whittle,
Hannah Wood and
Maileka Slayton raced in the 4x100 finals and ran their fastest relay of the year crossing the line in 44.90 for sixth place at the meet beating Texas A&M, Clemson and Baylor.
Â
The men's 4x200 team with
Reagan Beal,
Zac Davis,
Rasmus Rooks and
Bilal Abdullah also had a very successful day as they set a school record with a time of 1:25.96
Â
In Rome, Georgia for the Shorter Invitational, the team battled rain all day, but still put up some nice results.
"Aside from the terrible weather at Shorter, we were able to put together a very good weekend of competition," Eggerth added. "I haven't seen the field event results yet, but Di ran a PR in the 400m and Andzelika ran another strong 800m, so doing those things in poor weather is great!"
Â
Andzelika Bobrova won the 800m with a time of 2:13.74, and
Diaja Oliver ran a PR in the 400m to place second with a time of 57.63.
The women pole vaulters took four of the top five spots led by
Lauren Wilson clearing 3.56m (11'8"). On the men's side,
Joseph Yates cleared 4.10m (13'5.25") to win the event as well.
Â
Nigel Hughes jumped 7.18m (23'6.75") to win the long jump.
Â
In the triple jump, the Owls swept the top two collegiate spots as
Morgan Campbell won the event with a jump of 11.52m (37'9.5") and
Fallon Reed jumped 10.91m (35'9.5").Â
