THE GAMES:
The Kennesaw State softball team opens an eight-game road trip in Jacksonville, Fla., this weekend as KSU faces Jacksonville in a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series starting on Sunday, March 30 with a doubleheader, followed by a single game on Monday, March 31. Start time is set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday and 3 p.m. on Monday at the JU Softball Complex.

The Dolphins come in to this weekend's series on a five-game losing streak, including a 6-2 setback to No. 7 Alabama on Tuesday. JU has dropped nine of its last 10 contests and is 9-9 at the JU Softball Complex this season.

LAST TIME OUT:
It was a special night for the Kennesaw State softball team as the Owls celebrated Lexi's Day 2014 with an impressive 8-3 win over Atlantic Coast Conference foe Georgia Tech on Wednesday night (March 16) at Bailey Park. KSU broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth with seven runs on six hits and two GT miscues. Senior Angie Dascoli led the way for the Owls with a 3-of-3 performance plus two RBI, while senior pitcher Amanda Henderson earned the win while striking out seven in three and a third innings of relief work.
 
NEXT UP:
The Owls continue Atlantic Sun Conference play with a midweek doubleheader against rival Mercer in Macon, Ga., on Wednesday, April 2 starting at 4 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Owls vs. RPI Top-100
The Owls have registered eight wins over teams in the top-100 in RBI this season, including ACC foe Georgia Tech, SEC opponent Mississippi State and AAC member Memphis as well as league wins over Lipscomb and North Florida.
 
Henderson Goes Over 600 Ks
With 10 strikeouts last Sunday, senior pitcher Amanda Henderson went over 600 in her career and now has 611 career strikeouts, which sits second in the KSU Division I record books.
 
Top Five in Strikeouts
The Owls have two pitchers in the top five of the league in strikeouts, with Henderson leading the A-Sun with 128 strikeouts, while junior Paige Mathews owns 69 strikeouts, good for a tie for fifth.
 
Dascoli Hot at the Plate
Senior Angie Dascoli leads the Owls and ranks seventh in the conference with a .374 batting average, while also ranking in a tie with junior Natalie Rhodes for the team-lead in hits with 34.
 
Fielding Percentage
Rhodes owns a 1.000 fielding percentage and has played in all 32 games, starting all but one contest in for the Owls and seeing action in both left field and center field.
 
Multiple-Hit Games
Freshman Taylor Denton now holds a team-leading 12 games with multiple hits, nine with two and three with three, while Dascoli, Rhodes and sophomore Kara Chambers own 10 multiple hit games.
 
Stolen Bases
Denton, Rhodes and Chambers have combined for 20 stolen bases on the year, with Denton taking eight in nine attempts, Rhodes earning seven in nine attempts and Chambers stealing five in seven tries.
 
Henderson in A-Sun Rankings
Henderson is the A-Sun leader in wins (14), strikeouts (128) and innings pitched (101.0), while ranking second in appearances (22) and games started (14) and fourth in opponent batting average (.188). Her 2.36 ERA also sits ninth in the A-Sun.
 
Mathews in A-Sun Rankings
Mathews leads the conference with 15 games started and 24 appearances this season, while ranking fifth in the A-Sun with 88.1 innings pitched.
 
Tough Competition
The Owls have seven teams on their schedule that have been included in the Top 25 polls or have received votes in the polls so far this season, including Alabama, Tulsa, Stanford, Mississippi State, Lipscomb, USC Upstate and UAB.
