NEWS AND NOTES:
Big Night for Pentecost
Max Pentecost had a night to remember on Friday against Lipscomb, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and a KSU NCAA Division I record-tying six RBI.
Â
Simmons' Consistent Play
Kal Simmons now holds 11 games with multiple hits, six with two, three with three and two with four. Simmons has also reached base in 24 of the team's 27 games. Simmons is the only player in the KSU lineup to have started at the same position all season, filling the shortstop spot. Catcher Pentecost has seen action in all 27 as both a catcher or a designated hitter.
Â
Hillyer's Hot Start
Hillyer put together a stellar outing on Sunday from the hill, going 7.1 innings allowing just six hits and no earned runs while striking out seven.
Â
Liquori Takes the Lead
Alex Liquori took over the team lead in batting average with a stellar weekend at Mercer. The sophomore is now hitting .351 with an on-base percentage of .400.
Stolen Bases
KSU is on pace to top its stolen base total from one year ago, currently sitting at 33. Last year's mark was set at 60 and was good enough for fifth all time in the school record book.
Â
KSU in the Nation
The Owls remain in the top five in the nation and first in the A-Sun in the total hits column, belting 266 through the first 27 games of the season.
