KENNESAW, Ga. – Starting pitcher Jordan Hillyer got the Owls what they wanted from the mound, but the Kennesaw State baseball team failed to bring home a Sunday series finale win over Lipscomb, losing a one-run affair, 2-1, at Stillwell Stadium.

Hillyer lasted 7.1 innings on the bump while allowing just six hits and striking out seven, not allowing an earned run during his time on the mound as well.

KSU leaves the weekend with a 12-15 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference while Lipscomb improves to 16-9 on the year and 5-1 in the league standings.

Lipscomb again struck first as Austin Sistrunk came home following a miscue from the KSU infield in the top of the fourth. Stout defense held the Bison at bay with two runners in scoring position with no outs, getting out of the inning allowing just one run.

KSU tied things up in the bottom of the seventh, Colin Bennett coming through with the pinch-hit RBI, sending a shot back up the middle to score Chris McGowan for the 1-1 score.

Another error from the Kennesaw State infield would prove costly, however, as the Bison tagged across the winning run in the top of the eighth, taking the Sunday victory as well as the series.

From the plate the Owls scattered six hits from six different players, Max Pentecost knocking his first triple of the season with Bennett driving in the only run.

The Owls now embark on an eight-game road trip, starting this Tuesday, March 25, as KSU heads to Auburn for a midweek matchup with the Tigers.
