FINAL RESULTS

TEMPE, Ari. –
The men's and women's track and field teams started their outdoor seasons at the ASU Baldy Castillo Invitational and Emory Invitational.

"I'm pleased with the weekend," Director of Track and Field Andy Eggerth said. "We learned a lot with the outdoor events we don't get to do in indoor. The groups that have been trained a littler higher were performing lifetime bests, and those that have been loaded down pretty good still had solid performances."

The women's 4x100 team that ran at last year's NCAA Championships got its first chance to run together and welcomed two new members in Martina Cernochova and Maileka Slayton. The team finished fifth at the meet with a time of 45.17. That time is currently the seventh best time in the east.

Cernochova placed second in the 100m-dash in 11.91.

The other two members of the 4x100 team are Alicia Whittle and Hannah Wood. They both competed in the 200m-dash. Whittle placed fifth at the meet with a time of 24.04 and Wood finished in 24.29. Those times are currently the top two times in the Atlantic Sun.

Martynas Sedys qualified for the first round of the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw. Sedys is currently ninth in the east and got fourth at the event with a throw of 61.49 (201-09).

There were also some very good performances at the Emory Invitational. The women's team won the event with over 20 teams. Morgan Campbell broke a school record in the long jump that cleared 5.76m. De'Von Johnson placed second with a huge PR of 5.71m.

Next weekend, the Owls will be split up with part of the team going to the Texas Relays and the other half of the team going to the Rome Rekortan Relays.
