EATONTON, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team is currently in fifth place after two rounds of the Linger Longer Invitational that opened Saturday (Mar. 22) at the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Ga.
Georgia and three-time defending champion Alabama lead the 15-team field that includes nine teams ranked in the top 50 by Golfstat. The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are tied at 20-under par 556. Mercer (565) is third, one shot ahead of Oklahoma (566).
The Owls were led by freshman
Teremoana Beaucousin and junior
Jimmy Beck who each carded 5-under par 67s during the day. After opening with a 1-under par 71, Beaucousin fired a second-round 67 and is tied for third place, six shots behind Alabama's Robby Shelton, who posted scores of 69-66 for a 9-under par total of 135. Shelton has a one-shot lead over Georgia's Joey Garber (136).
Beck, who opened with a 67, posted a 1-over par 73 in the afternoon and is tied for 10th place at 4-under par 140.
Junior
Austin Vick, who tied for fifth in the event a year ago, is currently tied for 18th with a 2-under par score of 142. After posting a first-round 74, Vick came back to shoot a 4-under par 68. Redshirt junior
Kelby Burton (153) and freshman Chris Guglielmor are tied for 66th.
Sophomore
Carlos Segura Oliva, who is playing as an individual recorded rounds of is tied for 48th following rounds of 74-74 for a 4-over total of 148.
The tournament concludes with final round shotgun start on Sunday (Mar. 23) beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Owls will be grouped with Chattanooga, Clemson and Liberty.
