THE SERIES:
The Kennesaw State baseball starts off a four-game home stand on Tuesday, March 18, as the Owls welcome in cross-town rival Georgia Tech for a 6 p.m. ET matchup.
 
KSU looks for a season sweep over the Yellow Jackets, holding a 12-11 overall record with a win over Georgia Tech coming earlier this season. Tech arrives at Stillwell Stadium at 11-8.

Georgia Tech arrives after a series win over No. 22 Miami and now holds an 11-8 overall record. The Yellow Jackets now boast a team batting average of .287 with a .412 slugging percentage.

Sophomore Shortstop Kal Simmons collected five hits while teammate Brennan Morgan earned four RBIs as the Kennesaw State baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Mercer on Saturday.

NEXT UP:
The Kennesaw State baseball team remains at home this weekend, March 21-21, as the Owls take on A-Sun opponent Lipscomb in a three-game series.

NEWS AND NOTES:
Vs. Georgia Tech
The Owls have now taken three out of the last five games from the Yellow Jackets including a 5-3 victory in extra innings earlier this season.
 
Owls in Extras
KSU has now played five extra-inning games in 2014, posting a 3-2 record when the day goes longer than nine innings. So far, nearly a quarter of all games played have gone into extras.
 
KSU in the A-Sun
To go with the hitting prowess of the Owls in the first few games, KSU is starting to prove itself from the bullpen, holding a staff ERA of 3.43. KSU also leads the league in stolen bases, taking 31 bags in just 40 attempts.
 
Liquori Takes the Lead
Alex Liquori took over the team lead in batting average with a stellar weekend at Mercer. The sophomore is now hitting .351 with an on-base percentage of .400.

Stolen Bases
Max Pentecost, Jacob Bruce and Bo Way have now combined for 17 stolen bases on the year, Pentecost taking seven in eight attempts and Bruce and Way each earning five.
 
Multi-Hit Games
Jacob Bruce and teammate Kal Simmons now each have nine multi-hit games, Bruce collecting three or more hits in three of those and Simmons belting three or more in four.
 
Simmons on Base
Shortstop Kal Simmons has now reached base safely in 20 of the team's 23 games. Simmons had reached safely in the first 15 games of the year
 
Simmons at Short
Simmons is the only player in the KSU lineup to have started at the same position all season, filling the shortstop spot. Catcher Max Pentecost has seen action in all 23 as both a catcher or a designated hitter.
 
Behind the Plate
Pentecost has now caught seven base runners attempting to steal from behind the dish.
