MESA, Ariz. – The Kennesaw State women's golf team, playing its second tournament in the span of three days, posted a first-round score of 16-over par 304 and is currently tied for sixth place at the 15-team Clover Cup that opened Friday at the par-72, 6,209-yard Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
The Owls are 12 shots off the pace set by Colorado, which opened play with a 4-over 292 to take a six-shot lead over second-place Michigan (298). Host and Notre Dame and Louisville are tied for third at 11-over par 299, while Nebraska (300) is in fifth place. Kennesaw State is tied with Mississippi.
Junior
Kaew Preamchuen turned in the best round of the day for the Owls as she carded a 2-over par 74. She is six shots behind Notre Dame's Kristina Nhim, who shot a 4-under par 68. Nhim has a one-shot advantage over Michigan's Grace Choi and Colorado's Jennifer Coleman. Both players recorded 3-under par 69s.
Coming off a first-place showing at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Wednesday, junior
Ines Lescudier recorded a 4-over par 76 and is tied for 19th. Freshman Dulcie Sverdloff and redshirt-junior Hayley Clinning# are tied for 33rd after rounds of 77.
Junior
Mette Kryger Pedersen opened with an 84 and is tied for 80th. Freshman
Laura Estefenn, playing as an individual, recorded a 5-over par 77 and is tied for 33rd.
The Clover Cup continues with second-round action on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Kennesaw State is grouped with East Carolina and Tulsa and will tee off from the first hole. All the action can be followed live on the internet at
