KSU and Norse Set to Play Three-Game Series Saturday and Sunday

THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State softball team travels north for its first Atlantic Sun Conference road series of the season as the Owls take on Northern Kentucky in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, at Grein Softball Field in Highland Heights, Ky. KSU and NKU will play a doubleheader on Saturday, followed by the series finale on Sunday with both days starting at 12 p.m. ET.

THE OPPONENT:
The Norse enter this weekend's three-game conference series with a 2-14 overall record and an 0-3 mark in the A-Sun after being swept in its first league series at Jacksonville last weekend. NKU's two wins have come against Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 9 and in their last outing, a 9-8 win over Florida A&M on Tuesday. Offensively, the Norse are paced by Katelyn Roy, who leads the team in batting average (.366), hits (15) and RBIs (13). In the circle Alyssa Enrique owns a team-low 6.40 ERA, while Alex Caudill lead the squad with 13 strikeouts. Enrique and Paige McQueen own the two Norse victories, with the NKU staff ERA coming in at 8.37. 
 
THE SERIES:
The Owls hold a 4-1 advantage in the overall series with the Norse, including taking all three games in the series a season ago as KSU outscored NKU 6-1 a season ago with wins of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-0 on March 23-24, 2013.
 
LAST TIME OUT:
Sophomore designated hitter Courtney Sutter blasted a pair of home runs to send the Kennesaw State softball team to a 3-1 win over Furman as the Owls split its doubleheader with the Paladins on a windy Wednesday afternoon (March 12) at Bailey Park. KSU fell 5-3 earlier in the day in game one of the doubleheader.
 
NEXT UP:
The Owls continue its road trip with a short drive to Atlanta, Ga., for a contest with crosstown rival Georgia State on Tuesday, March 18 at 6 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Henderson in the Circle
Senior pitcher Amanda Henderson leads the Owls in the circle and ranks in the top seven in the conference in several categories, including leading the league with 11 wins on the season, second in strikeouts (89), appearances (16) and innings pitched (73.1), third in opposing batting average (.169) and seventh in ERA (1.62). 
 
Dascoli at the Plate
Senior Angie Dascoli leads the Owls with a .355 batting average, which sits top 12 in the conference, while owning the second-most hits with 22.
 
RBI Leader
Sophomore Courtney Sutter is the co-leader in the league in doubles with seven on the season and leads the Owls with 16 RBIs this season. Her seven doubles rank 66th in the nation, while her .623 slugging percentage sits 10th in the A-Sun.
 
Rhodes Strong Defensively
Junior Natalie Rhodes has played in every game for the Owls this season, starting all but one of KSU's 23 games, and owns a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 41 putouts and four assists. She also leads the Owls with 25 hits and six stolen bases and is 6-for-8 on the season in attempts.
 
Tough Schedule
The Owls will face a total of eight teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Tournament this season, including one Super Regional participant and two Regionals participants.
