WG: Owls in Fifth Place After 36 Holes of Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

HONOLULU, HI – The Kennesaw State women's golf team put in a solid first day at the 15-team Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational that opened Monday at the par-72, 6,099-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Honolulu, HI.
 
The Owls recorded rounds of 300 and 302 for a 36-hole total of 26-over par 602 and are in fifth place, 18 shots behind No. 35 Mississippi State.  The Bulldogs, one of three teams currently ranked in Golfstat's Top 50, have a nine-shot lead over No. 19 North Carolina State (593). SMU (596) is third and followed by TCU (601).
 
Kennesaw State is led by junior Ines Lescudier who is in second place with an even-par total of 144. Lescudier shared the first-round lead after opening with a 2-under par 70 and followed that effort with a 2-over par 74 in the second round.
 
UTEP's Camino Sardinero holds the 36-hole individual lead after rounds of 70-71 for a 3-under par score of 141. Sardinero and Lescudier are the only players to complete the first two rounds at even-par or better.
 
Junior Kaew Preamchuen (151) is tied for 21st, while freshmen Dulcie Sverdloff (152) and Laura Estefenn (155) are tied for 26th and 45th, respectively. Redshirt-junior Hayley Clinning (158) is tied for 59th.
 
Junior Mette Kryger Pedersen, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 39th with a 10-over par total of 154.
 
The Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational concludes on Wednesday with the final 18 holes. Kennesaw State is scheduled to tee off at 2 p.m. (ET) and is grouped with Gonzaga, Washington State and Columbia. Live scoring is available at www.golfstatresults.com.
