KENNESAW, Ga. – It took an extra three innings of work for the Kennesaw State baseball team on Tuesday night, but the Owls walked away winners in 12 innings, 4-3, over Western Carolina at Stillwell Stadium.

Brennan Morgan drove home the game-winning run for the second time this season, this one coming through in the 12
th to improve the Owls to 11-9 on the year while sending the Catamounts home with an 8-7 record.

Morgan's walk-off single brought home
Jacob Bruce who singled to start off the inning before making it to second on a wild pitch with the winning hit coming shortly thereafter.

Relief pitcher
James Connell earned the win on the mound, going the final four innings of work allowing just four hits and striking out three.

Kennesaw State scratched across a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on a costly error by the WCU third baseman.
Kal Simmons reached on the walk followed by a single by
Max Pentecost before the error drove in Simmons with a Morgan groundout sending in Pentecost for the 2-0 lead.

In the top of the second the Catamounts threatened with the bases loaded before Reece Strong stepped up with two outs, sending a blast to right field that appeared to be destine for four runs before the extended glove of
Alex Liquori kept the ball in the park, robbing the homer for out number three.

WCU took over the lead in the top of the fifth, bringing home three runs on three hits including a two RBI single from Cody Jones to put the away team up one, 3-2.

The Owls evened things up on the scoreboard in the bottom of the eight as Pentecost blasted a double to lead off the inning to the left center field wall. After advancing to third on a
Justin Motley groundout, Pentecost scored the tying run after a WCU error to knot it up at three.

The game then went scoreless for the next three innings before Morgan ended things in the 12
th.

Pentecost led the offensive charge for KSU, belting three hits with a double and a walk and two runs scored.
Â
Morgan's two hits went with his 12 innings behind the plate, catching one runner attempting to steal.
KSU now hits the road for the opening weekend of the Atlantic Sun Conference season, heading to Mercer for three games starting on Friday, March 14 at 6 p.m. ET.
