OPELIKA, Ala. – Junior
Jimmy Beck carded a second-round 6-under par 66 on Monday to lead the Kennesaw State men's golf team to a second-place standing at the Tiger Invitational that is being held at Grand National's par-72, 7,149-yard Lake Course.
Beck, who shot a first-round 1-over par 73, is tied for third place with a 5-under par 139, four shots behind Auburn's Niclas Carlsson (135), and helped the Owls finish 36 holes in second place with a 2-under par 574. The KSU junior's second round ties for the second-lowest par-72 18-hole score of 7-under 65 set by Beck at the 2012 Pinetree Intercollegiate and Michael Tulcaz at the 2007 USA Jaguar Invitational.
Kennesaw State is 10 shots behind host and No. 28 Auburn, which leads the 15-team field with a 12-under par 564 total. The Owls and Tigers were the only teams to finish the opening day under par.
Thirty-eighth -ranked Memphis (585) is third and Mississippi State (586) is fourth. Troy and Auburn's "B" team are tied for fifth at 13-over par 589.
Freshman
Teremoana Beaucousin continued his solid spring season with rounds of 71-73 for an even-par 144 and is tied for 10th place. Fellow Owls freshman
Chris Guglielmo (146) is tied for 15th, while junior
Austin Vick (148) is 25th and redshirt-junior
Kelby Burton (151) is tied for 33rd.
The Tiger Invitational concludes on Tuesday with the Owls grouped with Auburn and Memphis and scheduled to tee off at 10:15 a.m. (ET). All the action can be followed live on the internet at
