FINAL RESULTS

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. –
Whenever a school's fight song is playing at a track meet with around 120 teams, it's always a good sign. For both of Kennesaw State's teams that was definitely the case this weekend.

They came to the Armory Collegiate Invitational looking to build upon the momentum they got from their last meet after setting seven school records and over 20 personal records.

"We try to live victory to victory, so the 20 school records broken in the last two meets should have our student-athletes brimming with confidence going into the A-Sun Championships," Director of track and field Andy Eggerth said. "As we continue to taper down over the next two weeks, I'm very excited to see what our kids bring to the table."

Andre Dorsey, after winning his second A-Sun Field Performer of the Week award, came into Saturday 14th in the nation in the triple jump and was looking to improve on that ranking heading into the A-Sun Championships. After a jump of 16.27m (53'4.5"), Dorsey leads the nation in the triple jump. Coming into the weekend, the best mark of the indoor season was 16.25m (53'3.75") by Jonathan Reid at Florida State.

"The whole meet felt great from the atmosphere to all of the encouragement coming from my team," Dorsey said. "My team was cheering for each other the entire meet and that's so refreshing to see. The jump itself felt pretty good. When I landed I knew it was a good jump, but I didn't think it was that good. The best part is it didn't feel fast or smooth like a jump normally does when you hit it just right, so I definitely know that I have plenty of room to improve."

This season Dorsey has had to fight through some adversity, and Eggerth is happy to see that all of his persistence and hard work is paying off.

"Andre has struggled through injury this year and we've had to work very day-to-day with his practice load, so it's very rewarding to see him jump a personal record," Eggerth said. "For that to be a nation leading mark is just a testament to Andre's God given ability and the dedication he has devoted."

Dorsey and Bilal Abdullah also competed in the High Jump Championship. They both cleared 2.14m (7'2.5"). The jump moves Abdullah into third place in the A-Sun, and there are currently three jumpers to have cleared seven feet in the conference.

The women's 4x400 relay team with LaTia DanielsAlicia WhittleMaileka Slayton, and Jabria Mitchell set the school record for the second week in a row with a time of 4:46.44. Their time last week was 3:49.63.

Distance runner Natan Reuter ran the 5k in 14:34.05 beating the previous school record by 15 seconds held by Nabil Hamid.

Martynas Sedys broke his own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 18.95m (62'2"). His previous best throw was 18.82m (61'9.00).
