WT: Owls Top Georgia Southern, 4-3, in Home Debut

Kennesaw State Posts Fourth Win in Last Five Outings

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team continued its solid play of late as it recorded a 4-3 victory over Georgia Southern at Fair Oaks Park in Marietta on Saturday.
 
The Owls (4-3), who were making their home dual-match debut, won their fourth match in their last five outings.
 
Kennesaw State won the doubles point after sweeping all three matches.
 
Junior Tamara Plocher and freshman Gabriela Bueno cruised to an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to record the Owls' first win, and the duos of Alexandra Apostu /  Jana Hueckinghaus and Virginie Stein / Blaire LaSure recorded wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.
 
In singles play, Apostu and Hueckinghaus registered victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, before sophomore Isabela Castro secured the Kennesaw State win after defeating Stephanie Woods, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
 
The Owls return to the courts on Friday (Feb. 28) when they travel to Troy, Ala., to take on Troy beginning at 2 p.m. (ET).
