THE SERIES:
The Kennesaw State baseball team starts off a four-game weekend this Friday, Feb. 21 as the Owls host the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb at Stillwell Stadium.
 
KSU is looking to continue its winning ways after going 1-1 during the midweek, defeating Georgia on the road before taking a loss at home to Savannah State.

Gardner-Webb is looking to get over .500 on the young season, sitting at 1-3 after losing an opening weekend series to Penn State.

LAST OUTING
The Kennesaw State baseball team put up five runs on nine hits, but the Owls couldn't put a stop to the Savannah State offense as the Tigers took a 7-5 win in Stillwell Stadium on Wednesday night.

NEXT UP:
After the four games against the Bulldogs, KSU will head down I-75 to take on rival Georgia Tech this Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. ET.

NEWS AND NOTES:
Offensive Production
The bats showed up early and often for KSU to start off the season, putting up 48 runs in the first Five games of the year. With a .365 team batting average so far, the Owls are on pace to shatter their highest team season batting average in the NCAA Division I era of .303 that came back in 2009.

Dynamic Duo
The duo of Kal Simmons and Max Pentecost combined for 22 hits and 11 RBI over the first five games.

Bergen
Travis Bergen looks to top his first start of the season from the mound that came one week ago as the sophomore put up nine strikeouts in five innings of work, earning the win while giving up just three hits.
 
Tops in the A-Sun
With 48 runs scored in the first three games alone, the Owls sit atop the Atlantic Sun Conference in that category. The next closest team is Mercer with 36. Along with the league lead in runs scored, KSU is also enjoying the most hits in the conference with 69.
 
Simmons' Hot Start
Kal Simmons is enjoying one of the hottest starts from the plate in the league, belting an A-Sun best 12 hits, giving the sophomore a .480 batting average with eight RBI.

Pentecost's Power
Max Pentecost has brought the power from the box thus far, earning a .636 slugging percentage with four of his 10 total hits going for extra bases.
 
In Relief
Coming from the back end of the bullpen, freshman Mason Ward has tossed five total innings in 2014, giving up just one hit with three strikeouts.
