MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team earned its first win of the season on Friday as it defeated Florida A&M, 5-2, in a dual match at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala.

The Owls (1-2) picked up the all-important doubles point as they recorded wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
Virginie Stein and
Blaire LaSure teamed to post an 8-6 victory over Shantal Blackwood and Arrice Robonsin at the No. 2 spot, while
Jana Hueckinghaus and
Tamara Plocher combined to top Alexis Dean and Dominique Henry, 8-4.

In singles action, Stein recorded a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Dean at No. 1 singles, while
Alexandra Apostu and Hueckinghaus registered wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Apostu recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Symone Townsend, while Heuckinghaus scored a 6-4, 6-3 win against Blackwood.

Plocher was tested at No. 5 singles before outlasting Elysia Ortiz, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.

Kennesaw State returns to action Saturday when it takes on Jacksonville State in Montgomery, beginning at 3 p.m. (ET).
