THE SERIES:
The Kennesaw State baseball team begins its quest for an Atlantic Sun Conference championship title this Saturday, Feb. 15, as the Owls open up the 2014 season by hosting Middle Tennessee State at Stillwell Stadium.

The three-game series begins on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon ET followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Both the Owls and Blue Raiders are coming off of .500 seasons, KSU ending the year at 30-30 after a trip to the A-Sun Championship game and MTSU sitting at 28-28 in Conference USA.

LAST OUTING
After an early afternoon win over the University of North Florida, 4-2, the Kennesaw State baseball team ended its late-season run in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with an appearance in the championship game, falling to East Tennessee State, 7-2.
NEXT UP:
Following the three games with MTSU, the Owls will play their first midweek and road contest of the season, heading to Athens, Ga. for a Tuesday meeting with the Bulldogs of Georgia.
NEWS AND NOTES:
All-Americans
KSU now boasts a pair of All-Americans in shortstop
Kal Simmons, who earned Freshman All-America honors after his 2013 campaign, and catcher
Max Pentecost who took home Preseason All-American accolades.
All-Conference
The Owls landed three members to the 2014 A-Sun Preseason Team including
Bo Way,
Max Pentecost and
Kal Simmons.
Relief
At the back end of the bullpen for the Owls this season will be a pair of familiar faces in
Justin McCalvin and
James Connell, McCalvin posting a 1.80 ERA in 35 innings pitched and Connell earning a team-best seven saves.

The Outfield
Along with
Bo Way, KSU will bring out one of the top outfields in the conference, Way in center along with
Alex Liquori in right and
Jacob Bruce in right, Liquore an All-A-Sun selection and Bruce the team leader in batting average from one year ago.

From the Mound
With a 3.88 ERA last season, KSU held one of the top pitching staffs in the conference and held the second most saves as a staff with 13.
Young Squad
The Owls will bring to the table one of the youngest teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference, having just three seniors on the roster with 19 underclassmen.

Looking for a Title
Kennesaw State has now played in two consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference Championship games, falling to Belmont 10-4 in 2012 and 7-2 to ETSU in 2013.
