KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's basketball team earned its fourth-consecutive victory on Saturday (Dec. 13) as junior Jasmine McAllister finished a layup with just two seconds remaining in overtime to send the Owls to a thrilling 67-65 win over Jacksonville State in the KSU Convocation Center.

"It was a huge win," said head coach Nitra Perry. "After the game I found out they were a top-100 RPI team, so it was really big for us. It was a total team effort again. Everybody that got into the game contributed. This was the best game I have seen Breonna play all year and I have been on her and she really responded. Jasmine had another double-double, so we are expecting it."

With the victory, the Owls (7-2) equaled the program's best start since the 2004-05 campaign, while bypassing last season's win total in just nine games.

Redshirt-senior Breonna Mosely led the Owls with 17 points, nine rebounds and a career-high five assists, while junior Jasmine McAllister registered her Atlantic Sun Conference-leading sixth double-double of the season with 17 points, all of which came in the second half, to go with 10 boards, three assists and two steals.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the evenly-matched contest that saw 12 ties and 15 lead changes in the 45 minutes of action.

The Gamecocks (6-2) opened with the first three points, before a three-pointer from junior Karly Frye evented the contest.

JSU then raced ahead for its largest lead of the game at 15-7 with just under 13 minutes remaining in the half. The Owls responded with an 8-0 run, including six-straight points from Mosely, to tie up the score at 15-15.

Both teams traded the lead back-and-forth over the next several minutes, with the fifth tie of the contest coming at 25-25 with 2:07 left on the clock. The Gamecocks then finished the half with a 6-0 run to take a 31-25 lead into the break.

Out of the intermission, the Owls quickly closed the gap with a 13-4 run to take a 38-35 lead as Frye opened the period with her second three of the game, followed by eight-straight points from McAllister.

JSU responded to take back the lead at 45-44, before KSU grabbed the momentum and a six-point lead at 55-49 on a jumper from sophomore Deandrea Sawyers with just over six minutes remaining in regulation.

The Gamecocks then closed the second half on a 10-2 run to a take a 59-57 advantage with three minutes to go. A McAllister bucket evened the score at 59-59 and with neither team able to put in the winning basket, the game headed to overtime.

Frye again got the Owls off on the right foot in the overtime period with her third trey of the game, before JSU scored the next four points for a 63-62 lead with 2:23 remaining. After both teams traded baskets, a McAllister free-throw evened the contest at 65-65 with 1:15 left on the clock.

The Owls then held tough on the defensive end, before Mosely sent in a perfect pass to McAllister, who finished the game-winning layup with just 1.1 second on the clock. The Gamecocks inbounded the ball on a long throw down court, but time expired to give KSU the 67-65 victory.

Joining Mosely and McAllister in double figures was Frye with a career-high 13 points and three three-pointers, as well as Sawyers, who has recorded double-figures in all but one game for the Owls this season, with 11 points.

The Owls outrebounded JSU, 38-37, with senior Kristina Wells grabbing a game-high 11 boards in the victory.

As a team, KSU had its best shooting outing of the season, converting 50 percent of its shots on 30-of-60 shooting, including going 19-of-33 from the field in the second half and overtime period for a 57.5 percentage.

Destany McLin paced the Gamecocks with 18 points, while Candace Morton added 15 in the setback.

The Owls will have a short break before going back on the road for a midweek contest in Macon, Ga., as KSU faces off against rival Mercer on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. in Hawkins Arena.
