KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for two weekend contests to begin its 2014 season. The Owls make their debut at Samford on Saturday at 1 p.m. (ET) before visiting University of Alabama-Birmingham on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET) at the UAB Tennis Courts.
Kennesaw State posted a 9-12 overall record, including a 4-4 Atlantic Sun Conference mark, in 2014. The Owls advanced to the A-Sun Conference Championships where they fell 4-3 to USC Upstate in the first round.
Fourth-year head coach Jeffery Kutac returns six players from last year's squad including senior Alexandra Apostu and junior Virginie Stein. Both players are time two-time A-Sun Conference All-First Team selections and were named to the 2013 conference all-academic team.
Samford also will make its season debut when the Bulldogs host and the Owls. Samford recorded a 9-15 overall mark, including a 3-7 Southern Conference record, in 2014.
UAB (0-1, 0-0) is coming off a 4-1 loss at No. 24-ranked Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 19.
