ROCKY FACE, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior Jimmy Beck (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus HS) carded a 1-over par 73 during Saturday's second round of the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate and is tied for 14th place with a 36-hole total of 1-over par 145 heading into Sunday's final round at the par-72, 7,012-yard The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.

After entering the day tied for sixth, the Owls posted a team total of 11-over par 299 and are tied with Wake Forest for 11th place at 20-over par 596. Georgia Tech remained the team leader following a 1-over par 289 and holds a four-shot advantage over Georgia with a 7-under par 569. The Bulldogs (573) recorded the low round of the day, posting a 6-under par 282.

"We put forth great effort today," Kennesaw State head coach Jay Moseley said. "However we made some mental mistakes and did not capitalize on scoring chances when we had them. I'm proud of the fact that we hung in the round after a sluggish start but most of the damage was already done early in the round."

The field, one of the strongest Kennesaw State will compete in this season, includes six teams that are ranked in the Golf Week/Nike Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll.

"Our team is very talented and we are certainly capable of beating these great teams," Moseley said. "But in order for us to showcase our talent, we must eliminate the silly mistakes and be more confident in ourselves."

Beck is 11 shots behind Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans who recorded his second straight 67 and sits atop the leaderboard with a 10-under par score of 134. North Carolina's Bailey Patrick (137) is three shots off the pace. Three players are tied for third at 4-under par 140.

Sophomore Carlos Segura Oliva (Malaga, Spain / Colegio El Limonar ) turned in a 6-over par 78 and is tied for 44th at 6-over par 150. Redshirt junior Kelby Burton (Evans, Ga. / Lakeside HS) is tied for 46th (151), while senior Jonathan Klotz (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus HS) is tied for 49th (152) and freshman Teremoana Beaucousin (Papara, Tahiti / Lycée de Papara) is tied for 56th (154).

The tournament continues on Sunday with final-round action and the Owls will be grouped with Middle Tennessee State and Wake Forest, and tee off on the 10th hole beginning at 9:15 a.m. (ET). All the action can be followed live on the internet at www.golfstatresults.com.
