GREENVILLE, S.C. – Junior Ines Lescudier (Marseille, France / Tulane) carded a 2-over par 74 to lead the Kennesaw State women's golf team during the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational that opened Friday at the par-72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

Lescudier's performance, along with 3-over par 75 by junior Kaew Preamchuen (Chachoengsao, Thailand / Datdaruni School), helped the Owls total an 18-over par score of 306 and produce a 12th-place showing in the 16-team event.

GRU Augusta posted a 3-under par round of 285 and holds a two-shot advantage over Clemson (287). Host Furman and Wisconsin are tied for third at 2-over par 290 while Florida State (294) rounds out the top five.

"Today we showed what this team will be capable of this season. We had very solid play from players that showed we can compete," Kennesaw State head coach #Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Ines and Kaew were tenacious on the course and their patience was rewarded with some late birdies."

Lescudier is tied for 21st place six shots behind Ashland Ramsey of Clemson and GRU Augusta's Eunice Yi, who turned in opening-round scores of four-under par 68 and hold a one-shot lead over Casey Kennedy (GRU Augusta) and Sloan Shannahan (Clemson).

Preamchuen is tied for 25th, while freshman Dulcie Sverdloff (Southend-on-Sea, Essex / Seevic College) is tied for 33rd and sophomore Brittany Jarrett (Tift, Ga. / Tift County HS) is tied for 75th. Sverdloff posted a 76 while Jarrett opened with an 81.

"Again, competing with four players is a significant disadvantage but we are working with what we currently have and will continue to improve and look ahead to our long term goals," Brinsmead said.

The Lady Paladin Invitation continues with second-round action on Saturday with the teams scheduled for a 9 a.m. (ET) shotgun start. The Owls are grouped with Texas A&M and UNC Wilmington and will begin play on the 10th and 11th holes. All the action can be followed live on the Internet at www.golfstatresults.com.
