FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Freshman
Dulcie Sverdloff highlighted the Kennesaw State women's golf team's play during the final round of the season-opening Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 6,352-yard Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
Sverdloff, making her collegiate debut at the 17-team event, carded a final-round 74 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 14-over par 230 and tie for 39th. The Owls' freshman posted rounds of 80-76-74.
Junior
Ines Lescudier was the top finisher for Kennesaw State, totaling a 9-over par 225 to tie for 24th after posting scores of 74-74-77.
The Owls finished the tournament in 15th place after shooting a final-round score of 24-over par 312 and concluding play with a 74-over par total of 938.
"Obviously our final team result is disappointing but it does not reflect the individual feats that I am very proud of," Kennesaw State head coach #Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Dulcie had a very solid round today, and for her first event we are impressed with her finish. Playing with only four golfers puts pressure on each player to perform and this is not ideal but we will continue to work hard this fall and make progress each event."
Cal led wire-to-wire to claim the team title with a 9-over par score of 873 and record a nine-shot victory over Colorado, which finished second at 18-over par 882.
Second-round leader Dana Finkelstein of UNLV posted a final-round 1-under par 212 to claim individual medalist honors. Cal's Nicola Roessler and Sanmi Stevens of New Mexico finished one-shot back with 3-under par totals of 213.
Junior
Kaew Preamchuen (231) tied for 45th and sophomore
Brittany Jarrett (252) finished 85th.
Kennesaw State is next in action on Monday (Sept. 16) when it competes in the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
