NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State baseball team ended the regular season with a pair of losses in doubleheader action at Lipscomb on Saturday, May 18, falling 16-6 in game one and 4-3 in game two, the Owls will now head to Deland, Fla. as the No. 7 seed in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
KSU ends the regular season at 26-28 overall and 13-14 in the conference, setting up a 5 p.m. ET contest against No. 2 seeded Florida Gulf Coast this Wednesday, May 22 at Stetson University.

After falling behind to the Bison 6-2 after one inning of play, the Owls fought back, coming within two runs of Lipscomb in the fourth before ultimately falling, 16-6.
KSU came out of the gates by putting up two runs in the top of the first after a two RBI single from
Max Pentecost (Winder, Ga./Winder-Barrow HS) to give the Owls the 2-0 lead. LU then came out swinging, picking up six runs in the home half to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
In the fourth, the Owls picked up four runs on six hits including a double from leftfielder
Jacob Bruce (Woodstock, Ga./Woodstock HS) to cut the lead down to just two, but the Bison responded, scoring one in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth to put the game out of reach, 13-6.
Despite the loss the Owls did manage 13 hits during the contest, three from
Andy Almonte (Moca, Puerto Rico/Gordon College) and two each from
Bo Way (Brunswick, Ga./Glynn Academy),
Alex Liquori (Brooks, Ga./Whitewater HS),
Dylan Ivey (Winder, Ga./Winder-Barrow HS) and Pentecost who also drove in two.

Game two was a much closer affair, but again it was the Bison coming out on top, 4-3, in the second end of the doubleheader.
KSU for the second straight game came out of the gates taking the lead, this time 1-0 after one inning of play as Pentecost drove in Almonte. LU tied things up in the third and took the lead in the fourth before the Owls scored two in the top half of the fifth after back-to-back hit by pitches with the bases loaded gave KSU the one-run lead.
Lipscomb then scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the 4-3 win.
The Owls earned just two hits during the contest, one each from Liquori and Ivey, but did draw five walks and capitalized on a pair of LU errors.
Justin McCalvin (Leesburg, Ga./Lee County HS) came in in relief of
Will Solomon (Columbus, Ga./Columbus HS) to go the final 1.1 innings of work, not allowing a hit to the LU batters.
