Mercer-Arkansas Preview

Women’s Tennis Set for Matches against Mercer, Arkansas

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team looks to notch its third consecutive win as the Owls travel to Macon, Ga., for a 10 a.m. (ET) match against Mercer at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center. The Owls then head to Athens, Ga., for a 9 a.m. neutral site match against No. 50 Arkansas at Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
 
Kennesaw State (7-9, 2-3) is coming off back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference wins last weekend. KSU first posted a 6-1 win over Lipscomb, before blanking Northern Kentucky, 7-0.
 
Sophomore Virginie Stein led the Owls in the two wins, going 4-0 on the weekend.
 
Mercer (5-11, 1-4 A-Sun) enters as losers of the last six of seven matches. The Bears split a pair of matches last weekend, picking up their first conference win in a 7-0 win over NKU, before dropping a 4-2 decision at Lipscomb.
 
Arkansas, ranked No.50 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, comes in at 10-12 overall and 3-7 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Razorbacks have dropped three-straight matches entering Sunday’s contest, falling to No. 29 South Carolina (5-2), No. 2 Florida (7-0) and No. 28 Tennessee (4-2).  
 
The Owls will wrap regular season play next weekend, as they host USC Upstate on Friday, April 12, followed by East Tennessee State on Saturday, April 13. Both matches will be played at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga.
