THE SERIES:
The Kennesaw State baseball team returns home after an eight-game road trip this Wednesday, May 1 as the Owls wrap up a home-and-home series with Western Carolina at 5 p.m. ET in Stillwell Stadium.
Now 22-24 on the year, the Owls head back to their friendly confines where the team is over .500 on the year and looking to avenge a 2-0 loss to the Catamounts just over one week ago. WCU arrives at 30-17 overall and 18-6 in the Southern Conference, having won 11 of its last 12 outings.
Prior to first pitch, the KSU women’s golf team seniors will be honored behind home plate on Student Appreciation Night at the ballpark.

THE OPPONENT
The Catamounts are one of the hottest teams in the nation as of late with their 30-17 overall record and an 11-1 record over the past three weeks of the season.
In the NCAA statistical rankings, WCU arrives at No. 1 in doubles (114), fourth in home runs (45) and fifth in total hits (501).
Julian Ridings leads the squad with his .391 batting average to go along with his .669 slugging percentage, having 24 of his 59 hits go for extra bases.
THE SERIES
Western Carolina now leads in the all-time series eight games to four, including taking four out of the last five and the 2-0 win during last week’s contest in N.C.
LAST OUTING
The Kennesaw State baseball team lost both ends of an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader to East Tennessee State on Saturday, falling 9-7 and 8-2, at Thomas Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Buccaneers (24-17, 13-8) touched up Owls’ starter for six runs in four innings, jumping out to a 6-2 lead to secure the game one victory. East Tennessee State secured the series win with a four-run sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Sophomore outfielders
Jacob Bruce (Woodstock, Ga. / Woodstock HS) and
Chris McGowan (Lawrenceville, Ga. / Collins Hill HS) led the Owls (22-24, 10-11) offensively, each going 4-for-8 with two RBI on the day.
NEXT UP
The Owls return to Atlantic Sun Conference play after a much-needed weekend off, welcoming in USC Upstate on May 10-12 for the final home stand of the 2013 campaign.
NEWS AND NOTES
Janas on the Mound
Stephen Janas (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) continues his reign atop the A-Sun in terms of ERA with a 0.75 mark. The average also puts the junior at No. 2 nationally after making it back-to-back complete game wins, putting Janas at 7-0 on the year and 6-0 in his last six outings.
A Weekend Away
No weekend series this week means the Owls will have their first weekend off since the start of the season back on Feb. 15.
Harsh vs. WCU
Despite the loss against the Catamounts last week, KSU sophomore pitcher
Nathan Harsh (Brunswick, Ga./Brunswick HS) had a career day, lasting 6.2 innings while striking out eight, both of which were career highs.
Battle for Average
The battle continues for the top batting average on the roster for the Owls,
Jacob Bruce (Woodstock, Ga./Woodstock HS) has momentarily taken the lead with a .313 mark with
Bo Way (Brunswick, Ga./Glynn Academy) still right behind at .311. Also creeping up is
Max Pentecost (Winder, Ga./Winder-Barrow HS) at .309.
McGowan’s Hit Streak
Chris McGowan (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill HS) is looking to extend his season-best hit streak to 10 games after hitting safely in the last nine.
