ATLANTA, Ga. – It was a tough night of baseball for Kennesaw State as the Owls took a 9-1 loss during a rain-soaked game at cross-town foe No. 15 Georgia Tech on Tuesday night in a midweek, non-conference contest for KSU.

The Owls put up seven hits on the Yellow Jackets, two from second baseman Dylan Ivey (Winder, Ga./Winder-Barrow HS), but could only bring around one run as KSU falls to 17-13 on the season while Georgia Tech moves to 22-7.

Kennesaw State’s one run came in the top of the second as the Owls took a one-run lead after designated hitter Max Pentecost (Winder, Ga./Winder-Barrow HS) singled in Chris McGowan (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill HS) who picked up a double earlier in the inning.

Tech tacked on the tying run in the bottom half of the frame with a single from Matt Gonzalez to set the score at 1-1.

The Owls stranded the bases loaded in the top of the fourth before the Yellow Jackets scored two to take the lead for good, 3-1. One inning later the home team bats came alive, scoring five before adding one more in the seventh en route to the win in what was the only meeting between the two schools this season.

After leaving nine runners on during a one-run loss to Georgia on Tuesday night, KSU again stranded nine on the bases at Georgia Tech after all but two batters in the starting lineup reached base safely.

Ivey was the only Kennesaw State batter with multiple hits on the night with Pentecost going 1-for-2 with a RBI and a walk as well.

Will Solomon (Columbus, Ga./Columbus HS) took the loss on the hill, falling to 2-3 on the season, after going the first four innings allowing just five hits and three runs with a pair of strikeouts.

The Owls return to Stillwell Stadium this Friday, April 5, at 6 p.m. ET for a three-game series against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Florida Gulf Coast.
