KENNESAW, Ga. – Freshman
Caitlin Fowler (Flowery Branch, Ga./Flowery Branch HS) was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week after leading the Kennesaw State softball team to a 4-1 record this past week the conference announced on Monday.

Scott Whitlock. “She really had a good week for us.”
It is Fowler’s first career Player of the Week award and first for Kennesaw State this season. Junior
Amanda Henderson has also garnered three Pitcher of the Week accolades this season for the Owls.

Wes Holly Jr.. “She hit the ball very well this week. It is a great honor for her as a freshman and we look for her to receive many more as she grows and develops to the collegiate level of play.”
Fowler started off the week with her first career home run as an Owl with a two-run homer in KSU’s 6-1 win over UAB on Thursday. She followed that performance with a five-RBI game against East Tennessee State as the Owls defeated the Bucs 8-1 on Saturday. Fowler registered a clutch two-out, three-run double in the game’s opening inning to give Kennesaw State a commanding 5-0 lead. She then added her second-career homer run three innings later with another two-run bomb. It was her second-consecutive game with a home run.
The Flowery Branch, Ga., native was efficient at the plate with three hits in seven at-bats, while also totaling seven RBI and three runs. For the week, she posted a .429 batting average and a 1.429 slugging percentage.
Fowler and the Owls next travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the 2013 A-Sun Championships, hosted by Lipscomb on May 8-11. Kennesaw State is currently in fifth place in conference standings and will have their seed and opponent determined following the conclusion of this week’s games.
