MARIETTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback to USC Upstate on Friday, April 12 at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.
 
Despite an 8-5 win over Viktor Selander and Jacob Darling from sophomore Alexander Pena and freshman Maksim Yorsh at No. 3 doubles, the Owls (5-13, 2-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) dropped the doubles point to give the Spartans (9-10, 3-4 A-Sun) an early 1-0 lead.
 
Upstate then opened singles action with wins on courts two and three, before Pena earned KSU's lone point of the match as Jamie Yates retired with Pena leading 7-5, 1-0 in the match.
 
The Spartans then clinched the match as freshman Tobi Menhofer fell to Matthias Kidler, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
 
Kennesaw State will finish up the 2013 regular season on Saturday, April 13 with a 10 a.m. (ET) match against East Tennessee State at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center. Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Owls as seniors Gokalp Ozdemir, Gianni Kubin and Nathan She will be honored at the match.
