KENNESAW, Ga. – After a tough fought ballgame against Jacksonville University on Saturday, April 13, the Kennesaw State baseball team took off its hair for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, helping raise money for childhood cancer research.
The team helped raise over $2,500 dollars for the foundation including $870 from fan Stephen Hobbs and another $620 from Mark Avillar. Head coach
Mike Sansing’s new haircut brought in $200 while assistant coach
Trey Fowler took in $280.
“It was a great time for us to come together as a team,” said Sansing of the event. “It’s a great cause and our guys have really been rallying trying to raise money for the past few weeks. We had fun and brought in some money for childhood cancer research, we can’t ask for much more than that.”
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Those interested in the program can still get involved with St. Baldricks by visiting the organization online at StBaldricks.org.
The Owls, with a little less hair, will be back out on the diamond this Sunday, April 14, as they complete a three-game series against the Dolphins at 1 p.m. ET.
