KENNESAW, Ga. – After putting up 14 runs on 19 hits on Friday night, the Kennesaw State baseball team couldn’t muster up the same offensive prowess on Saturday, taking a 4-0 loss to Jacksonville to even up the series at one game each.

Kennesaw State (19-17, 8-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) earned just four hits, two from freshman catcher Brennan Morgan (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh HS), as Jacksonville (12-23, 5-6 A-Sun) starter Alex McRae went all nine innings on the mound to earn the win.

The Dolphins earned three runs in the top of the second off of four hits and an error from the Owls to take the lead early on. Kennesaw State put a runner in scoring position on two separate occasions but failed to bring one around as JU added one more in the eighth to take the 4-0 win.

All four hits from KSU were singles with Alex Liquori (Brooks, Ga./Whitewater HS) and Jacob Bruce (Woodstock, Ga./Woodstock HS) earning the other two aside from Morgan’s pair. Second baseman Andy Almonte (Moca, Puerto Rico/Gordon College) had his 15-game hit streak halted during the outing.

Travis Dean (Boston, Mass./Newton South HS) took the loss on the hill for the Owls, putting in seven innings of work giving up a pair of earned runs and striking out five.

The two teams will play the rubber-match tomorrow, April 14, at 1 p.m. ET in Stillwell Stadium. Kevin Kyle (Atlanta, Ga./Georgia Perimeter College) will have the start for KSU.
